Well hello there, strangers! I’m sorry it’s been a while since my last post.
The run up to Christmas was manic, as I’m sure you will all appreciate. The main challenge I found was sourcing Christmas presents and food with much more limited access to a variety of shops than I’ve been used to. When living in the UK, we had a major shopping centre a ten minute drive away. Now, in the Isle of Man, there are a smaller selection of shops, but the good thing is it makes you put more thought into what you buy for people. Of course, you can buy online, but there are also some lovely local shops with some more unusual gifts which meant we didn’t just buy the same old presents for everyone.
2018 has been an interesting one so far. I made a resolution to visit as much of the island as possible this year. I want to make the most of living in such a beautiful place, so we have made a list of beaches, plantations, forests, Glens, reservoirs and other places of interest. Throughout the year we will be trying to tick as many of these places as possible off our list and I’ll share them with you as we do. Keep an eye open in the next week for the first instalment.
I have also been taking part in a new activity away from the boy. Yes, that’s right, a whole new hobby just for me. I feel it’s been really good for me to have an interest outside the home. I’ve started to remember who I am as a person and enjoyed meeting new people as myself, not someone’s Mum.
So there’s a quick update of what we’ve been up to, but there will be much more coming over the next few weeks.
I hope 2018 is a good one for you so far, and I look forward to sharing more of our adventures with you.
